Welcome To Compassionate Healing

I have always had a passion for helping others and it didn’t take long for me to learn that there are a variety of barriers that hinder people from making positive, sustainable changes for overall well-being. Through my social work practice and yoga training I came understand that when therapy integrates both the mind and body, true healing can begin.

What I Do

Compassionate Healing Therapy is a holistic therapy practice that infuses restorative yoga postures with a main focus on mindfulness. Mindfulness is a present moment awareness that allows individuals to pay attention to their thoughts, emotions, and feelings in the body as they are happening and adopting a welcoming attitude of curiosity and compassion.

Who I Am

I am a registered social worker and certified yoga instructor that believes everyone has the potential to heal themselves. I have been in the mental health field for over 3 years now and have gained most of my trauma experience working with Victim Services of Simcoe County for 6+ years. I continue to learn from my service users as they are the expert in their experience.

Private Therapy

I provide one-on-one therapeutic yoga counselling to help individuals explore their experiences that have brought them to where they are at in the present moment. I offer services throughout Barrie, Ontario. I also offer in-home sessions where I travel to the individual’s home to create a safe and comfortable environment.

Wellness Group

The 8 week wellness group program is catered to people who struggle with symptoms of anxiety and depression or have suffered from a traumatic experience. Some topics within the eight weeks include: mindfulness, meditation, how to deal with difficult thoughts and emotions, breathing techniques, self-care and how to implement a daily mindfulness and meditative practice.

"feeling unsure and lost is part of your path. don't avoid it. see what those feelings are showing you and use it. take a breath. you'll be ok. even if you don't feel okay all the time."

How does holistic mental health therapy work compared to psychotherapy?

Holistic mental health looks beyond your basic talk therapy and engages service users to look at all social determinants of health such as nourishment to our body, changes in lifestyle, and promoting the overall health and well-being of individuals. It emphasizes the interconnectedness of the body, mind and spirit and utilizes methods outside the realm of conventional psychotherapy.

Holistic counselling believes that we all have the wisdom necessary to work through our issues to lead us back to our body’s innate ability to have overall well-being. It encompasses the mind, the body and the spirit to encourage a sense of emotional balance. Westernized psychotherapy believes that mental health symptoms are the problem therefore the goal would be to alleviate symptoms however, holistic counselling believes if there is an issue it’s coming from a deeper meaning, and seeks to understand the message behind the symptoms.
